Generally Speaking...

Anakki Mayhem is an innovative experimental progressive goth rock performance artist based in Australia. She is a multi-instrumentalist, being at home on guitar (both 6 & 12-string, electric & acoustic), bass guitar (4, 5, 6-string electric & acoustic, & slide bass on a 12-string Bajo Sexto), keyboard, piano & synthesizers, & a range of percussive instruments. Heavily influenced by Lene Lovich, Debbie Harry, Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Joy Division, Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, & The Church, Anakki experiments with vocals & sounds as part of the instrumentation of songs.

Anakki is also an actor, host and presenter who loves performing and enjoys working in film and television, as well as live stage shows. Her favourite genres include comedy, horror, supernatural themes, fantasy, and sci-fi. She has performed in musical and non-musical theatre and has also been a contestant on the Australian program, Millionaire Hotseat, an experience she greatly enjoyed.

She is also a published author with her first novel released in paperback in April 2010. My Immortal is available now from Barnes & Noble, as well as other good bookstores throughout the USA, from Chapters in Canada, & on Amazon. Click on the banner to go straight to the book on Amazon! Anakki calls herself mostly vegetarian, & was informed by a German backpacker in the audience at a 2005 gig that she should describe herself as a pescatarian because she occasionally eats fish & other seafood but she likes the word 'vegequarian' better. She loves to cook but hates the cleaning up & always wants dessert.

Anakki loves travelling, especially by car & plane. She has explored the USA extensively, (driving along route 66, the I-10 & I-5 in a red Thunderbird & getting a little bit too close to one tornado & definitely way too close to another & meeting a ton of wonderful people along the way), cruised Europe's castles in a turbo diesel Golf (so many amazing people & places in so many awesome countries), driven many of the beautiful narrow winding English country roads in a tiny little Fiat Uno & then later in a Fiat Punto (loving Avebury & Whitby even more than Stonehenge & having fun throwing snowballs in London in winter)… Brief stays in Korea & Singapore also left pleasant tastes… Anakki continues to criss-cross Australia by plane & car as she has done for years as musician in band, or as a roadie (lighting operator/director), or as tourist on holiday…

Anakki is also a qualified horticulturist, landscape designer & interior designer who loves the Gothic period of architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright, & the Bauhaus movement. Her favourite artists are Warhol, Escher, Clive Barker, & Dali. Clive Barker is also a favourite novelist, along with Frank Herbert, Anne Rice, J.R.R. Tolkien, & Stephen King. Although a lifelong diehard Dr Who & Star Trek & Red Dwarf fan, her tastes are broader than just sci-fi/horror/fantasy & she is also a fan of Erica Jong (Fear of Flying being one of her fave books ever), Jack Kerouac's On The Road & owns a tattered & much read copy, along with Stephen Hawkings' A Brief History of Time, & a treasured Kama Sutra. She loves British comedy, particularly Russell Brand, The Mighty Boosh, Little Britain, Blackadder, & Spaced. Anakki is also a qualified automotive spraypainter although she has no interest in working at the trade. These skills are mostly used in her favourite hobby - working on collectible cars. Her current collectibles are a metallic blue Datsun 260Z 2+2 (all original with matching numbers) & a Yamaha Cygnus moped (a Vespa lookalike). Her beloved sexy black 1987 Nissan EXA was stolen in 2008 & damaged beyond repair. CAR THIEVES SUCK!

Her continued interest in furthering her education has seen her complete courses in Music Performance (CSIT) taught by Peter Koppes of The Church, & Screen Acting (ASP), & Hollywood dialects (ASP). The CSIT course resulted in Anakki performing original songs live on stage with Peter Koppes & other graduates at the culmination of the course. As a result of participating in the Screen Acting course, Anakki received roles in an improv comedy/theatre sports troupe performing at the 2002 International Film Festival held on the Gold Coast. Anakki was featured in one of her roles as Elvira (with pictures) on several occasions in the Gold Coast Bulletin & other nationally distributed newspapers.

Anakki loves travelling, meeting people, learning about other cultures, art, theatre, cinema, music, languages, history, and life in general.

Anakki embraces life & welcomes into her life others who do the same.
