Chapter 3

*waiting room* “Holy shit, Sara, where’d you find these guys at?” “I’ll tell you the story later.” They introduced themselves. We talked for over an hour just about stuff. About music, movies, our families, our towns, our lives, about everything. “Sara, Megan, there you are!” my mom came coming in. “I see you’ve found some friends!” They guys introduced themselves. “Where are the others?” “Back home,” Brian answered. “They’re coming tomorrow.” “Well, we’d better be going,” said my mom. “But mom!!!!!” “Really!” “They can stay if they want and I’ll take them home,” said Nick. “But it’s already 9 o’clock and it’s a school night. They still haven’t had supper.” “I’ll take them to Mickey D’s, grab a burger, my treat, and they can eat and sleep on the way home. I’ll make sure they’re back by 12.” “But gas is so expensive.....” “That’s ok. I’ll just find a place to stay on my way back.” “That’s nonsense, you can stay at our house.” “Ok. That’ll work.” “Back by midnight! No later!” “I promise!” My mom left. “So, I guess you won’t be here tomorrow.” said Brian. “I’ve got an idea,” I said. “We can skip school tomorrow and come with you Nick!” “Good idea, Sara,” said Meg. “I think I feel the flu coming on.” “I’ll call my mom right now and tell her Nick will take us after classes right away to see Bri.” “You’d do that for me?” said Brian. “Of course we would,” me and Meg both said together. “Jinx, you owe me a Sprite,” I said. We all started laughing. We said our good-byes and exchanged hugs, phone numbers, addresses, e-mail, and kisses. On the way home, it was getting really late. So Nick started to speed up, and we stopped at Burger King. (McDonald’s was too far away.) Nick ordered a Whopper, I had the usual Cheeseburger with just ketchup, and Meg had her chicken nuggets to throw at me and Nick on the way home, because I had called shotgun. I think that Meg and Nick really hit it off. I did do, but there was something about Meg I knew he liked. “Just take a left here,” I said trying to guide him to my house. Meg had called her mom to see if she could stay (We definately gotta talk our moms into easing up on us. C’mon were in college, they gotta let us live a little!). Meg had to stop at her house so she could get some clothes. “It’s the gray house at the end of the block on the left side.” “This one?” he asked. “Yepper.” My mom was there. She had the bed already made in the basement for Nick. We had an extra sleeping bag, and Meg slept on my floor. We would have stayed in the camper, but it was in the shop.
