Chapter 16

Later that night, Nick came barging into our room. Thankfully it was much later after that. “Guess what guys?” he asked. “Your gay,” I guessed like he told me too. “No silly! We have joining rooms. Why dont you open your door and then we can go into each other’s rooms!” “What if we don’t want you in our room?” I asked. “Well, why wouldn’t you?” Brian and I both laughed under our breath. “Why wouldn’t we when you come in the regular door anyway?” “Well, then I don’t have to walk as far.” “Did you think of that on your own, blondie?” “Yeah, I did.” “I don’t think you understood that. You’d have to grow half a brain. We’ll, it might get lonely then wouldn’t it?” “Huh?” “Blonde joke, dumb ass!” “Tell me another! Tell me another! On second thought, that would be degrating me now wouldn’t it?” “Hooray!” “What?” “You learned a new word! I bet you don’t know what degrating means do you?” “Well, um, no, not exactly. It sounded good though, didn’t it?” “Just leave.” “Fine. Be that way.” He left through the joining room door. I said to Brian, “Hey, I thought of another I’ve gotta tell him.” “What?” “Why did the blonde climb over the glass wall?” “I don’t know, why?” “To see what was on the other side.” He paused a moment, then laughed. “That’s a good one.” “A brunette came into the doctors office,” I said. They kept coming into my head. “She said ‘Doctor everything hurts. My arm hurts,’ she touched it. ‘My nose hurts,’ she touched her nose. ‘Everything hurts.’ Then the doctor said, ‘You used to be a blonde, weren’t you?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ The doctor said, ‘your finger’s broken.’” Brian started to laugh. “Good one,” he said. “We’ve better get ready for tonight. Are you excited?” “Hell yes. I’ve been waiting for tonight for forever. What should I wear?” “Something lightweight, or you’ll sweat to death.” “Ok.” We got ready then headed to the bus in the parking lot. The other guys and their ‘roomies’ were waiting. “Ready girls?” asked Kevin. “I guess,” I said. I wasn’t ready. I was as nervous as hell! We got on the bus and talked about back home. I think that conversation helped us girls, especially Amy, get over our homesickness feeling. At the concert, there were hundreds of thousands of teenage girls mixed in with little boys and girls and parents that got dragged along. I had never seen so many people in one place in one time. They were all screaming ‘Backstreet Boys! Backstreet Boys!’ Then they started singing “We’ve Got It Goin’ On.” I hoped one day they would do that for us. “Girls, get ready. Your about to go on stage,” somebody said. I paniced. Luckily Brian was there to calm me down. “Just relax and have fun. That’s what I do.” He started massaging my neck. It felt so good, but then Meg grabbed my arm and said, “Time to go, Sara!” “See ya later, Bri,” I said. “See ya in 30 minutes or less or it’s a free kiss from me!” I laughed. “Yucky!” I screamed with delight!
