Chapter 14

“Why? You may die Sara! You may die very soon.” “Well that’s good for my self-essteem now isn’t it?” “Sorry, but it’s the truth. You need to know it. You can’t live a lie all your life.” “Sounds like you’ve been watching your soaps!” I started to laugh. “Sara, this isn’t a time for fun! You must be careful of what you do.” “They don’t even know what I have. How do I know what to do, if they don’t know what I have? If I do die, at least let me have fun in my last years.” “Years? It may not be that long?” “It can be longer!” “No, it can’t. Your going to die, Sara! You are!” “So are you. We all die sometime!” “Your going to die soon. We can’t stop it either.” I started crying. Why was Brian being so mean to me all of a sudden? He should be making me feel like I’m gonna make it. Not your going to die! I was silent until he spoke up. “I’m sorry, Sara. I don’t know what I was thinking. We’re gonna fight this. You and I and the girls and the guys. We’re all behind you 100%. We won’t let you die. If you do or even think that you will, I’ll have Kevin come and beat you up!” I started laughing. That was the Brian I knew. He dropped me off at my house. We kissed our usually see you later kiss, and he said, “I’ll call you tomorrow.” “Kay.” “See ya.” “See ya.” I walked into the house and watched some TV, then I found a note saying “Sara, have to work late tonight. Find your own supper. Don’t know where dad is. Bed by 10. I won’t be home til 11.” As usual, my mom had to work late. I poped a small frozen pizza into the oven. And in 20 minutes, eat fast. I went to my room, slipped into my pajamas, and fell fast asleep. It had been a tiring day. But then I realized, my mom didn’t say anything about me not being home. “Oh well,” I thought, then drifted back to sleep. The next morning, I awoke to the sound of the phone ringing. Tiredly, I rolled over and picked it up. “Hey baby,” the voice said. “Hey sweetheart. Where are you?” I said. “I’m on my way to your house. I have Amy with me. Were gonna shoot a video for you guys. That one fast song, you know, say goodbye.” “I hate that song!” “You wrote it.” “I know. It’s so cheesy, can’t we do I needed you instead?” “Mr. Pearlman thinks this one would make a better single.” “Where we going?” “Minneapolis, there’s a plane in Charles City were gonna take.” “My hometown! It’s been a while. Well, when are you going to get here?” “In about a half hour, kay with you?” “Sure, what should I wear?” “There’s a costume trailer there.” “I see. Well, see ya in a few.” “See ya.” I hung up and started to get ready. Once I was done with my shower and stuff, I stood by the window waiting for Brian. I was so anxious. It felt like he was purposly taking forever because I, yes little old I, was going to be the somewhat star of a music video! It had always been a deep down dream of mine, but I knew it would never happen. I guess I knew wrong. Soon the eternity of a half hour came to a close and Brian showed. I went outside and hopped into his car with the other gals. It was cramped again, like when we went to the hotel. I was so excited! I think the girls were too, because they were singing along to the radio all the way there. Brian started getting into it too. It was funny watching him sing along to Mariah Carey and other divas, especially when they got to the high parts. This was what we did on the small box, a.k.a. an airplane, we rode in. I swear there was only enough room for the pilot, but we managed to fit a pilot, brian, and 5 girls into it. We sat there, and we sat there. Then Meg started singing, “I like bread and butter. I like toast and jam. I like all those simple things and that’s why I like SPAM!” We started cracking up. That lightened up the mood. We started talking and a few minutes later, we were on the ground again. “We’re here!” I said. “Yepper,” said Lia. “Don’t take a genius to figure that out dumb ass.” “Shut up! Why the hell are you always so mean?” “I know.” “That doesn’t answer the question dipshit.” “I know.” “Your stupid.” “No, that’s you.” “I know.” Brian chuckled (that evesdropper!). We rode in this really cool beast of a vehicle. Then we arrived at Minneapolis Studios. There were a hundred thousand people there I swear!
