ゆ¦絞()     (Day 30-Day 33)

Day 30 (1-8-2000)

We go to Yicheong(﹜) this afternoon for shopping. In YiCheong there is a plaza like the TRENDY ZONE in Hong Kong. I have bought most of the gifts needed for my friends. Take, for example, I have bought two packages of stamps and plenty of bookmarks.

To forgive, be patient. Don't feel doubtful with your friends.

Day 31 (2-8-2000)

This is the first day we go to the monitoring centre. We can go to the site in
this very first day, good luck.
The feeling of wearing slipper and going to site is very strange.
As we enter the drainage system of the artificial marine traffic route to do some surveying, we feel like entering a dark maze. The drainage caves, of course are artificially made and the feeling is quite different from that in those naturally existing caves. Inside the cave, there is no lightings, the ground is very wet...

This afternoon, we don't have any assignments again. We sit in the meeting room and the department head asks us to read some books. Of course, we chat and spend the time in fun.

Day 32 (3-8-2000)

Raining, and it continues, from last night until now... The 'hot' air here is all expelled away, and the weather is relatively cool today. Even the staff in the training centre have changed their uniform with long sleeves.

This morning, I have read through over ten pages of the Contract Laws and nothing more. We learn to play Italian bridge skillfully this afternoon. Discover a department store which sells things in a much lower price.

Tonite, HKU has a match with PolyU, in the first round, seven of our representatives have won and the champ. fight is won by a Part 2 student, Benedict.

~Isn't it? The sound of the piano breaks the still air.

Day 33 (4-8-2000)

We go to site this morning. Today's site is not underground. We walk from the
highest point of the artificial marine traffic pathway to the mid way of it. The site is very muddy and the quality of the path is very bad: there are small
ponds, with tracks running through them frequently, threatening us that the dirty
water will split onto our clothes. We look at the staff taking data from
different pipes located all over the site. I asked them the mechanism of getting the
data and how the data give us the required information of the movement of the soil of the structure. To my great astonishment, they don't know anything about that.

This afternoon, we have taken a rest and tonight we pack up for the trip to the
'Sun Lung Ga' (笰琜)* in the coming four days.
