Chapter Four

Brian checked his watch for what seemed like the hundredth time. "AJ is always so friggin late. You'd think that since I picked his favorite restaurant he'd come on time," he muttered to himself.

"Talkin to yourself again, Bri?" AJ shouted out his open window as he pulled into the parking lot.

"Only bad things about you," Brian shot back.

"Yeah, yeah. Come on, let's eat."

They walked inside and their jaws dropped. The place was PACKED. There was only one empty table and Brian spotted it right away.

"Here," he gave AJ some money. "Get me some food. I'm gonna go get that table."

"Alright." AJ headed toward the line to order their food, and Brian went to the booth and sat down. One of the girls at the table next to him looked familiar, but he couldn't figure out where he had seen her before. He noticed her 76ers hat, and being the basketball freak that he is, decided to go and talk to her.

"Excuse me," he tapped her on the shoulder. "I'm sorry to bother you and all that, but you look REALLY familiar, and I was wondering where I've seen you before. I noticed your hat and I was wondering if it could have been at a basketball game or something."

She looked at him curoiusly, while her two friends started laughing.

"I can pretty much guarentee that you're never seen Kelli at a basketball game," one of them said.

"Oh, your name is Kelli? I'm Brian......wait a second....Oh, my god! You're Kelli Dawson!"

"Oh, my god! And you're Brian Littrell!" she teased.

"Man....I can't believe it."

"Believe it. I'm Sarah and this is Katie. We're the dancers. Those three over there are Adam, Mark, and Joe."

Just then, AJ arrived with their food. "Oh, my god, you're that girl that Nick likes!"

"Told ya," Katie and Sarah said to Kelli.

"Guess that would be me."

"Wait until I tell Nick about this. He's gonna be so mad that he decided not to come," AJ laughed as he shoved food into his mouth.

"Sooo...what do you think of the Nickster?" Brian asked.

"Major babe," Sarah complimented as she nodded her head with a mischevious smile on her face.

"He means Kelli, dummy." Katie hit her over the head.

"Oh. Sorry."

Kelli shrugged. "I've never met him, so I can't really say anything. He seems nice enough, though. AND he's a major babe."

"Aawww, wait until little Nicky hears about this one," AJ laughed.

"Please don't tell him, you guys," Kelli pleaded.

"Why not?"

"Because I don't know how long I'm gonna be staying on the tour. I don't really want to start something just to have it end so quickly."

"All right. Our lips are sealed. Right AJ?"

After a second's hesitation, AJ agreed. "Fine. I won't tell. But it's gonna be really hard."

"Hey, you girls ready? We have rehearsal in 15 minutes," Adam said as the guys came over.

"Yeah, let's go," Kelli stood up and gathered her stuff. "It was nice meeting you guys."

"Bye. We'll probably see y'all later," Brian said.

"And we'll introduce Kelli to Nick!" AJ added.

"Tell him she says hi!" Sarah called out as Kelli dragged her out the door.

"You know, this dance gets REALLY annoying after practicing it a thousand times," Sarah complained as they stood on the stage, waiting for rehearsal to be over.

"A thousand? It gets annoying after doing it only ONCE. I hate choreography, no offense, since you're all dancers and all."

"None taken. I'm not too wild about singing, either."

"Shut up, Adam. I'm like, your boss. I could SO fire you," Kelli joked. "Hey! It's 11:00! Rehearsal is over! I am so outta here!" She took off her headset and jumped off the stage, before turning back around. "Hey, I just got an idea. We should stay and watch the guys rehearse."

"Yeah!" Sarah and Katie shouted at the same time, before bursting out laughing.

"Count us out," Joe spoke up for the guys. "We wouldn't be caught dead hanging around here."

"Yeah."

"That's right."

"Fine. Leave. We don't want you here, anyway." Katie stuck her tongue out at their retreating backs and sat down, while Sarah followed suit.

"THEY'RE JUST JEALOUS!" Kelli shouted at the top of her lungs, so she would be sure the guys heard her.

"OF WHO? THOSE PANSIES? NEVER!"

"I don't know about you guys, but Joe sounded pretty jealous right there." Sarah started looking around in her backpack while she talked. "Did one of you two take my Doritos? I know I put them in here somewhere."

"Nope. Didn't you eat them earlier? I could have sworn I saw you with them while we were in the van on the way here."

"Oh, that's right. Shoot. Thanks, Kel. Damn. I had SUCH a craving."

"You and your cravings. Uh-oh...."

"Here. You can have one of my Hershey bars," Katie offered Sarah. "What's wrong, Kelli?"

"Dude, I lost my hat. Man, everyone is losing stuff today."

"Here."

Kelli turned around and saw Nick with her hat. She jumped back in surprise. "Oh, mylanta. You scared me."

"Mylanta? That's a new one. Sorry, your hat was on the chair there."

"Thanks!" Kelli took her hat and tossed it onto Katie. "Hold that for me, ok? Thanks. By the way, I'm Kelli."

"I know, I'm Nick."

"I know."

AJ came over and leaned his elbow on Kelli's shoulder. "So, I see you two have met. By the way, Kel, I kept my mouth shut. I can call you Kel, right?"

Kelli laughed. "Call me whatever you want. Unless it's insulting, in which case I would have to beat you up.....just kidding."

"Good. By the time this tour is over, you'll have a ton of nicknames. Anyway, come on, Nick. I was sent over here to tell you to stop making an ass of yourself and come up onstage to practice."

AJ walked away, with Nick right behind him, protesting. "I wasn't making an ass of myself! All I did was give her back the hat. Kelli, was I making an ass of myself?"

"No, Nick. You weren't making an ass of yourself."
