Created in May 2001, the formerly known "TRL Hall Of Fame" (now known as the "TRL Retirement Home",
was redefined into a prestigious category of it's own. Only artists who have had successful videos through
TRL History are inducted with special plaques, and here are the first four to receive them.

First debuting on the music scene way back in December of 1998, the princess of pop Britney Spears has had hit videos one after another. It is a fact that each of her videos released in the U.S. have been retired from the countdown, quite the feat of Ms. Spears to accomplish at such a young age. She is definitely the most successful female artist in the history of Total Request Live.

The boys have dominated the Billboard charts and TRL Record books, holding records for selling 2.1 million records of "No Strings Attached" in one week and having most consecutive days @ #1 on TRL with 26 days.

The Backstreet Boys have always reigned the countdown with their string of hits dating back to "I'll Never Break Your Heart" in 1998. It's no surprise that the boys landed at number one on the TRL Top 99 of 99 and TRL Retirement Home special.
