CADET APPEARANCE

Wear of the Cadet Uniform

1. Wear of Jewelry, General

Any jewelry must be removed at the request of the cadre if it is deamed necessary for the reason of safety. The following jewelry may be worn with all Corps of Cadets uniforms.

Wristwatches
Rings-a maximum of 2
Necklace-a maximum of one, may not be visible at any time

2. Wear of Jewelry, Spacific

MALES

Male cadets are not authorized to wear earrings of any kind. No other piercings may be visible with any uniform at any time.

FEMALE

Female cadets are only authorized to wear earrings that meet the following requirements:

Earring will not exceed 6mm or 1/4" in diameter.
Earrings can be gold, silver, white pearl, or diamond.
Earrings may only be worn as a matched set.
Only one earring is allowed per ear.
No other visible piercings are allowed with any uniform

3. Hair Policy

All Cadets having hair which extends below the bottom portion of the collar of the BDU uniform or the dress uniform must have their hair pulled up so that it can be tucked under the cover (soft cap/hat). If the hair style does not allow the cadet to wear the cover properly they will be asked to re-do their hair so that the cover can be worn properly.

4. Wear of the BDU Uniform

The uniform must be neatly ironed and the NYNGCC patch must be sewn onto the left sleeve one half inch down and centered on the leeve crease. If a unit patch is issued it must be sewn onto the right sleeve one half inch down and centered on the sleeves crease.

The NYNGCC T-Shirt must be worn under the BDUs and tucked into the pants. The black belt must be worn with the BDUs

The Cadet's nametape must be placed on the velcro strip centered above the right breast pocket. The NYNGCC take must be centered and sewn above the left breast pocket. Any rank insignia must be polished and placed on the BDU collar and centered on the front of the cadet's cover (soft cap/hat).

Athletic shoes/sneakers are worn with this uniform
Black Combat Boots are Optional
No construction boot, dress shoes, or any other type of footwear is allowed.

5. Wear of the Physical Training(PT) Uniform

This uniform consists of the NYNGCC T-Shirt, Shorts, Sweatshirt, and Sweatpants. The combination of these items will be determined by temperature, weather, and activity.

Athletic shoes/sneakers must be worn with this uniform

6. Other Uniform Items

Cadet Dress Uniform

This uniform is only issued to cadets who are trained members of the Color Guard and/or Drill Team.

The patches and ranks must be placed on the uniform the same way as on the BDU shirt. This uniform must be neatly pressed, shoes polished, shirt tucked in with belt.

Cadet Field Jacket

The field jacket is only issued to trained members of the Color Guard and/or Drill Team and are only worn if specified by Cadre.

The patches are placed on this jacket the same as on the BDU and Dress uniform shirts. The ranks must be shined and pinned on the correct spot on the shoulder of the jacket.
