We've made some changes to the format of this page because of the need to minimise the use of space.

Use this page to access details of planning applications affecting Taff's Well and Nantgarw.

Information on....The Planning Committee

The Development Control Committee has 38 members. The Committee decides all Planning Applications made to the Council.

The Chair of Planning is Councillor Julie Williams (Plaid Cymru).

Executive Members cannot sit on the Planning Committee. This is to avoid a conflict of interest when the Council decides on its own applications - for example when it builds a school or a road that has already been endorsed by the Executive.

Councillor Adrian Hobson is an Executive Member (a member of  the Council's Cabinet). He is therefore unable to be a member of the Planning Committee although he attends and speaks on applications affecting Taff's Well and Nantgarw.

Information on....Planning Applications

Applications must be determined within a statutory period laid down by Government - 8 weeks. There is a right to appeal to the National Assembly if the Council do not determine an application within the statutory period.

Applications refused by the Council also have the right of appeal to the National Assembly.

Many straightforward applications are delegated for approval to officers of the Council and may not therefore appear in these pages.

If you require details of any specific applications please contact Adrian Hobson.

"Recent changes in the way that the Planning Committee functions have ensured that the process is transparent and rigorously fair to applicant and residents.

There have also been significant changes in the rights of objectors as a consequence of The Human Rights Act.

Any resident who wishes to object in person at a meeting of the Council should contact me in good time to ensure that suitable arrangements can be made."
