This is the medal given to Lloyd and Vernard on the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War in appreciation for their noble contribution to the efforts to safeguard the Republic of Korea and uphold liberal democracy around the world From The President of the Republic of Korea Kim Dae-jung.

Dear Veteran
On the occassion of the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, I would like to offer you my deepest gratitude for your noble contribution to the efforts to safeguard the Republic of Korea and uphold liberal democracy around the world. At the same time, I remember with endless respect and affection those who sacrificed their lives for theat cause.

We Koreans hold dear in our hearts the conviction, courage and spirit of sacrifice shown to us by such selfess friends as you, who enabled us to remain a free democratic nation.
The ideals of democracy, for which you were willing to sacrifice your all 50 years ago, have become universal values in this new century and millennium.

Half a century after the Korean War, we honor you and reaffirm our friendship, which helped to forge the blood alliance between our two countried. And we resolve once again to work with all friendly nations for the good of humankind and peace in the world.

I thank you once again for your noble sacrifice, and pray for your health and happiness.

NOTE:

Since Lloyd Wayne was decesased when they presented this medal and honor for those who served in the Korean War, I decided that he deserved to have this medal so I sent for his medal and gave it to his wife in hopes that she would give it to his grandson Aaron someday.

Some facts about The Korean War

The Korean War began on June 25th, 1950, when troops from Communist-ruled North Korea invaded South Korea. This was called by the UN a invasion an violation of international peace and demanded that the Communists withdraw from South Korea. Sixteen UN countries sent troops and forty one countries sent military equipment, food and other supplies. The United States provided 90% of the troops, equipment and supploies that were sent to help the South Koreans. The Korean War ended on July 27th, 1953 when the UN and North Korea signed an armistice agreement. A permanent peace treaty between South and North Korea has never been signed.

Bart Holbrook Served in Korea

Bart is the son of Butch & Mary Holbrook

Bart and his MP unit were given a citation from the Chief of Korea National Police for helping to save and secure 3,000 people during a 13inch rain storm. Bart served two tours in Korea.
