Pennies From Heaven
Hello, I am Gayle and I would like to introduce you to some wonderful little girls that have completely changed our lives. Their names are Alexis and Kassidy. They were born with a rare seizure disorder called West Syndrome. For more information on West Syndrome you can visit their other site at Lexie's Page where I have given a detailed description of this disorder. Also we have a wonderful pediatrician in Cedar Rapids, her name is Dr. Denise Clark. If you are currently looking for a pediatrician in this area, please check her out, she's the best! :-)
Lexie, affectionately called "Slimer," is six years old, which is impressive because they said she wouldn't make it to her first birthday. Last september she was granted a wish from Make-A-Wish Foundation and we went to DisneyWorld-Orlando and stayed at Give Kids The World in Kissimmee. There are pictures of this trip included in the slide presentation below.
Kassidy is over a year old now, having been born December 31, 1999. (Threateningly close to being named Millennium Eve, but I couldn't stand the thought of her called Mille.. HAHA but now I have managed to nickname her Silly Billy Girl, so I guess it wouldn't have mattered!) Her normal temperment is to complain about everything, and when she thinks you're not looking, then she smiles and coos to herself! I have yet to catch one of those smiles on film! But since she can be a total sweetheart, we tolerate all the complaining to catch one of those precious smiles. Kassidy is currently in therapy with GrantWood-AEA's therapists Jan and Diane.
