If you don't have your open water certification, you'll need to take lessons from an instructor at one of the dive shops or schools in order to scuba dive in Florida (or anywhere else). To have an instructor get in touch with you, please complete the form below.
-
If you have an Open Water Certification, you might want to take additional lessons while in Florida to enhance your dive experience - now and in the future.
What are the possibilities? Briefly:
Open Water Certification
-
This allows you to rent equipment and buy AIR. It gives you the basics to start diving and limits the depth you can dive to a certain number of feet. Depending on the Dive Agency the instructor belongs to, you can dive from 60 to 100 feet below the surface. But remember, some of the best diving is found well above 60 feet!
-
Advanced Open Water
-
After your open water cert and a certain number of dives, you are eligible to seek an advanced certification. You'll learn more about the safety, physics and physiology and the dive tables. You'll also learn navigation, night diving, and learn how to to dive to deeper depths and learn the responsibilities that come with it.
-
Equipment
-
Learn more about how your equipment works and how to maintain and repair it to save that special dive for which you've planned and spent good money.
-
Nitrox
-
Learn and start to understand the thery and practice of oxygen enriched air. You'll learn maximum operating depths, gas analyzing, the benefits of longer bottom times and shorter surface intervals than diving on just air.
-
Rescue
-
The Rescue Diver course is designed to teach you the skills for the prevention and management of scuba diving emergencies. It is also a first step toward becoming a dive professional. CPR is a requirement for the course.
-
Divemaster
-
Learn how to make Diving your career. See the various Agency sites for information on their programs.
-
Cavern
-
This course teaches
proper body attitude when descending into an overhead environment, the fragile ecosystem of our aquifers, proper use of a reel, importance of the 1/3 air rule, the necessity of proper training and buddymanship.
-
Cave
-
This is a highly specialized aspect of diving and should only be attempted by those in good physical and mental health. Seek the best instructor for this level of certification.
-
Specialty Diving
-
From photography to deep diving, tech to wreck and night diving: there are courses available to suit your desires.
-
Junior Divers
-
Let's not forget the juniors. Age 12 and above with most Agencies are eligible to begin lessons and become certified to dive with their parent.
