1994 Williams Road Show

Two talking heads, and 18 modes, what more can you ask for? The widebody really suits this game, and really shows what Funhouse could have been if it was made a into a dot matrix game. Excellent home machine as there is lots to do.
Added to the playfield are copies of the promotional keychain plastic, as well as another plastic from the game itself. These are used to cover up the ugly exposed microswitches. You can see these in the pictures.
The game looks great. I have a little bit of sinkhole wear in the middle of the playfield. Just waiting on a protector to be made by some keen pinballer.

Road Show is the sister machine to Funhouse. The game features two talking heads, Red and Ted. They are used well in the game, although Ted gets alot more action.
There is an astounding 18 modes in this game. The modes are not too complex but they are well done. The irrate taxi driver is featured in 3 of the modes. The modes can be a bit repetitive due to the fact the game always starts of with New York mode lit. If you make the skill shot, (you are bad player if you don't) you will always start with New York. I can see how this can wear on you if you play the game alot.
The wizard mode is reached by making it to the west coast. Quite rewarding if you make it. I havent made it there much so I can't comment to much on this.
The multiball feature of the game is to lock balls, then start the multiball by shooting a ball into a sleeping Ted's mouth. To light the locks you have to hit Ted's bulldozer in front of his face, numerous times. To collect jackpots in multiball, shoot it in Ted's mouth, while his bulldozer raises up and down. Relight it by hitting Red's jaw/mouth.
The shaker motor is really a fitting feature to the game. It shakes violently during different times of the game. With the newer roms the shaker level can be set to soft, which is a nice touch.
Another feature of the game is Spin the Wheel, where you can get a bunch of different awards. Collected by either shooting the spinner sinkhole or blast zone hole. The only problem with this award, there is no playfield light to indicate that it is ready to be collected. This bothers me, and maybe I am missing something, but I wish it had a flasher in the middle of the wheel.
Roadshow rates an 9 of 10, with the only flaws being the starting mode always the same, and the lack of a Spin the Wheel indication flasher.
