I've been into yaoi for years, ever since I was in the eighth grade, watching Sailor Moon on TV in the mornings. I always thought Zoisite and Malachite were just adorable, and once I found out that Zoisite had originally been a guy... they were even CUTER!
I can trace my full-blown yaoi obsession to Kuwabara no Miko, who at the time hosted a vast collection of Sailor Moon fanfiction. One day she posted a story called "Compromise", which was the first m/m lime she ever wrote, and the first one I ever read. As I read it, I realized that it kinda turned me on, and... that was that.
Really good, large archives of yaoi doujinshi scans are incredibly hard to come by, and it seems that some of the best have been lost over the years (I miss you, Ai no Kuusou!). I'm just trying to give the yaoi fans some eye candy to feast on. ^_^
So why, you may be asking yourself, is this site called "Not Quite Paradise"? Well, I went for a while planning on calling it "Vicious Cycle", solely because it's a phrase that I think sounds nifty. ^_^* Then I was blasting the Titan A.E. soundtrack in my car one day, listening to my favorite track, "Not Quite Paradise" by Bliss. Something about the refrain "It's not quite paradise, but it sure feels like home" made me think of yaoi in general, and relationships that are unconventional but still beautiful in their own way. Does that sound cheesy? ^_^* Anyway, so I, uh, borrowed the title, and there we have it.
Also my favorite episode of Trigun, 23, is called Rakuen, or "Paradise". So that was another incentive.
