The Japanese method of shiatsu is one of the oldest forms of natural healing.  Shiatsu prevents disease and maintains health by balancing and unblocking the flow of energy in the meridians.  Meridians are pathways or channels of energy that crisscross the body from one end to the other.  They give direction to the flow of energy.  Some of the meridians follow the same lines as muscles and blood vessels.  The function of the meridians include (1) controlling the movement of vital substances (2) connecting the arms, head, and legs with the trunk; (3) controlling the regulation of the organs; and (4) facilitating reciprocal communication inside and outside the body as well as up and down the body.
