Contraindications:
Loss
of Sensation (Numbness)
Deep massage is not to
be performed on any area where the client has lost the ability to sense pain or
touch. In a condition such as this,
tissues may become bruised and the client will not feel any pain. Late phase diabetes, syringo-myelia, spinal
cord or brain damage, nerve root or peripheral nerve compression, intoxication,
drug use (including pharmaceutical) and
strokes are all contitions which can result in a loss of sensation. Gentle massage is advised.
