The legendary and terrific
Peter Case (writer of Million
Miles Away" by the Plimsouls,
and many great solo records)
has been one of my favorite
artists for years. I asked
Andrew to ask Peter if he'd be
willing to write together. He
was up for it. Luckily we wrote
a song we both really liked.
Written in Peter's office in
Santa Monica, California. I
originally had the idea to write
a song about being bored.
Peter said "Well, a song about
boredom would be
pretty.........boring. Don't you
think?" He was right. We
wound up writing this singsong
little tune that's a little
bit evil if you think about it.
It's a look at what you get
when you get involved with a
songwriter. Here's a guy who's
going to write love songs
about you when you first
meet, but when you break his
heart, you're screwed, and the
whole world is gong to hear
about it. It was fun to write.
The album was originally
going to be titled "songs
about you" as it was mostly
written about one person, but
I got over that and called it
Propeller. It's a cooler title
anyway.
