"just to make you smile would set me free"

Started this one in Seattle,
nearly finished it in France
and then finished it in
Seattle. Very well traveled
little song this one is. it's
about my dad. He died when I
was young and when I was
writing this I was trying to
remember what it was like to
have him around and to
imagine what it was like
to meet him as an adult.
would he be proud? Would
he sit around and play songs
and laugh? The meeting took
place in my mind as I wrote
the song. I recorded this on
my porch in LA with my little
home studio and then
we put strings on it in the studio.
Kevin Savigar did the string
arrangement which I love. It's
got a lot of Nick Drake
influence.Thanks also go to
Greg Wells who made some
good suggestions on the chords.
