"Here I am"
"Let it go, it's easier said than
done,
but I am done saying so"
Hmm, what do I say about
this one, lots of people have
told me that this is their
favorite on the record. This
one was written in Seattle on
a beautiful sunny day in
spring. My dog and I were
sitting on the porch staring at
the water, well, he was
chasing flies, but we'll say
that we were staring at the
water. I was playing this chord
progression with tons of
chords in it and sining
nonsense. I very quickly
started coming up with a
story of someone who sits in
bars and has entire
relationships with people he's
never met. Then when they
leave the bar he sits there
and thinks, "Well, if she had
just come back I would have
finally talked to her."
It's all about waiting for the perfect
moment to talk to someone
and the perfect moment
never arrives. It's not as
depressing as it sounds. Next
time you go to a public place,
pick someone out and try to
imagine what would happen if
you went up to talk to them,
you can make it work out
between you or imagine a
glass of wine thrown in you
face, it's all up to you.
