To My Children

How do I keep my fears
From stealing away your freedom?
My past experiences and hurts
Are seen daily in my decisions.
I need to let you grow and learn
There is no wisdom in total protection.
How easy it is to say those words
So hard to make the heart obey.
Life
Laughter...
Love...
Pain...
All natural parts of the living.
May I learn to let go
And trust the universe to hold you.

Where I Live

Trapped in this precarious place
On the edge of insanity
I live here.
With love and hate
In confusion and chaos
I live here.
There is nothing new here
Only a sad, tired feeling
That has been here forever
In this place I live.
It is not a house
It's a state of mind.
No matter where I am
I live inside this place.
My heart, my mind, my soul
This is where I live.
It is where peace is an illusion
And illusion is never reality
Nothing is real
Still, I live here.
