Morrab Gardens

Morrab Gardens (Penwith District Council)
Morrab Rd, Penzance, Cornwall, TR18, Ph: (01736) 362341

Between Penzance town centre and sea front lie the Morrab Gardens - three acres of renowned sub-tropical gardens, which are home to a surprising variety of plants, shrubs and trees that thrive in the mild climate.
Some of the plants grown for over a century here include magnolias, camellias, tree ferns, palm trees, and banana plants.

The garden is set as a public park rather than a garden, but instead of seeing the dull, common plants frequently seen in typical UK parks like Cotoneaster, or Sycamores, you'll be surprised when you find magnificent specimens of  Pseudopanax laetus, lessonii 'Gold Splash' and Clethra arborea from Madeira.

Morrab Gardens has been around for well over 100 years and has always been seen as a garden containing subtropical plants.
You will see
Fascicularia pitcairnifolia, Cannas, Hedychium gardenerium, Cordyline kaspar, Phoenix canariensis, Chamaerops humilis, Echium candicans, Melianthus major and Phormiums amongst loads of other wonderful architectural plants both hardy and tender.
A garden well worth a visit.
