Tufte, designer, statistician and Yale professor, presents a detailed critique of the way information is usually pictured to us. His passion for deciphering bad graphics helps clarify what is actually trying to be said or hidden.
Tufte teaches statistics, graphic design, and political economy at Yale University. In conjunction with his other books he has also written Political Control of the Economy, Data Analysis for Politics and Policy, and Size and Democracy. When he is not teaching or writing, Tufte prepares evidence for jury trials, works for companies such as IBM, Newsweek, and the Bureau of the Census as well as many more. He is a fellow of the American Statistical Assoc. and has held fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Center for Advanced Studies in Behavioral Science. His publishing company, Graphics Press was founded in 1983.
