|his work|
Tufte's publications are art within themselves. The quality of paper to the layout of every detail. Tufte takes great care in making his works understandable and clearly educational. The text and accompanying images work harmoniously on every page. If you are looking for graphic work by Tufte himself in his books, you will find very little. Tufte takes original printed data, whether it be maps, charts, or illustrations, and explains what is being conveyed. He offers his opinions to how the information could be better displayed. This is what his most recognized books, Envisioning Information, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, and Visual Explanations are all about.
Tufte reproduces the paper originals as close to how they would have originally been viewed. The pages represent years of history with maps, timetables, multidimensional graphs and instructions. His accounts also cover such subjects as dance, medicine, transportation systems, and science.
