- Considered fluent by Army standards in Spanish, French, Russian, and Serbo-Croatian.
- Trained by Army doctrine and Geneva Conventions in methods of eliciting intelligence information from both cooperative and non-cooperative sources of information.
- Obtained and maintained a Top Secret security clearance with secured compartmental information (SCI) access.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in communication; worked closely with people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, to include overcoming language barriers.
- Received several awards for outstanding job performance and leadership, both in garrison and in operations in Bosnia.
- Very effective working under high stress and emergency situations.
- Maintained fluency in Russian, French, and Spanish, despite a year-long commitment in Bosnia during which Serbo-Croatian was used as the common daily language.
- Educated non-linguists in the use of common words and phrases on two occasions: trained infantry-men in Spanish before they deployed to Cuba for crisis-management in refugee camps, and engineers in Serbo-Croatian so they could direct traffic as they were completing road repairs and mine-clearing in Bosnia.
*DLPT is the Defense Language Proficiency Test, a standard measure among all US Armed forces to determine language proficiency. 2/2 is the score/rating required for Interrogators to be considered fluent enough to do their job.
