On the business side of KORN, I do all the T-shirt designs for KORN, all the merchandise, like the hats and stickers. All the merchandise you see. That's all me. I think everybody could do it. I think everybody's just lazy. So I end up being the one that does it all. I come up with a bunch of designs, show them to the band. They either approve or disapprove." The only thing that inspires me is hip-hop--all west-coast hip-hop. Not that I favor west-coast or east-cost, but that's just what seems to inspire me. Just the beats and the style. Fieldy is known for his alcohol related antics. For instance, on a photo shoot, a bucket had to be found in case he threw up. Q: What do you like about touring clubs? A: The free beer.
At the end of May, 1998, Fieldy married his girlfriend, Shela. They have two daughters, Sarina Rae, born on September 30th, 1997, recently had another baby girl. When he was asked about his nickname, he said: "When I was younger, I had these fucking chipmunk cheeks, right... so they called me 'Gopher', and then it became 'Garf'. Then they started callin' me 'Garfield'. Then it became 'Fieldy'." On the album, his name is Fieldy Snuts. (get it, feel deez nuts) When asked whether the fans ever become annoying, asking for autographs etc, Fieldy says "think of your favorite band when you were a kid, and they were all like..get away from me.. you'd be crushed". Fieldy's favorite song is Freak on a Leash. When asked what 5 albums he'd like to be stranded on an island with he says "The new KORN record, of course. Chris Rock's live comedy album. The biggest old school hip-hop compilation you could get. So I could have a variety of a bunch of shit. Psycho Realm. And Erykah Badu Live." Fieldy is currently writing and producing his own hip-hop album called "Fieldy's Dreams", on which he will play all the instruments on.
From the March 2, 1997 issue of Kerrang Magazine THE LAST WORD The ultimate questions on life, sex, and sushi. This week, Korn bassist Fieldy gobs off to Paul Elliott: LAST TIME YOU CRIED? "Just the other day watching our 'WHO then NOW?' video. It makes me cry every time when it gets intense. I cry over anything man. I don't care. When they told us Life Is Peachy debuted at Number Three on the charts (in the US), I just started crying. I cry over the stupidest shit. I can watch The Lion King and cry! It's fun, cleans your eyes out." LAST TIME YOU PUKED? "Two days ago. I puke all the time. I get anxiety attacks. I get real hyper and that makes me wanna puke. But I've been chilling out lately. I'm puking maybe three or four times a week. It's being on the road, man. Just before a show the other night the lights went out and a big scream goes up, and I'm like, 'Bleurgh'. It makes me all fucking nervous. I don't puke out of being hungover and shit like that, I puke out of being nervous. I don't seem like a nervous person but I guess I am inside. I can't vomit on cue." LAST MEAL YOU'D CHOOSE TO EAT BEFORE KICKING THE BUCKET? "Sushi. All I can eat. I love sushi it's my favourite food. I don't think I wanna go out eating Taco Bell LAST RECORD YOU GET HEAVILY INTO? "I just got Death Row Records' 'Greatest Hits', and the remixes on there I like a lot. I listen to rap thats me it's all I listen to, but I love playing heavy music. I play heavy music every night. So listning to something different is my way of getting away. But I love fucking banging the fuck out of my bass and playing hard as fuck." LAST TIME YOU SAID NO TO DRUGS? "I don't do drugs. I never did drugs ever. I smoked pot when I was 16 but never really got into it, but I smoked it a little bit. I just drink beer, alright I've been taking sedatives lately, Ha Ha Ha! You got me. Thanks to Jonathan (Davis, Korn's singer), I've been taking sedatives." LAST TIME YOU WERE IN A FIGHT? "Shit, it's been years man. Probably six years ago. I've almost fought Head (Korn's guitarist) a couple of times, but this was a long time ago. One time Head was yelling at me and he got really pissed off. This was back when we used to fight - we work differences out now. He threw a kick at me and I caught his leg and dragged him down the street, and he was like, 'Alright, it's cool!' Me and David (Silveria, Korn's drummer) also used to have our differences - bad. One time we were arguing and almost getting ready for a fist-fight. We were like, 'C'mon, fuck you! c'mon!', and Munky (Korn's guitarist) had the tape recorder on while we were doing it. We listened to it after we cooled down and we where just laughing so hard. You could hear how stupid we sounded. None of that shit happens now; we just laugh about shit." LAST TIME YOU MADE A FOOL OF YOURSELF? "When we were at the LA Forum supporting Ozzy. I jumped of one of the monitors and landed face-first on my bass. I broke my bass and the whole arena got up and went 'Yeaahhhh!!!' It was like, 'Omigod'. I don't think you can really embarrass yourself more than in front of 20,000 people. if you're going to make a ass of yourself I guess thats the best way to do it." LAST TIME YOU TRIED SOMETHING NEW SEXUALLY? "I guess, uh the last thing I tried new... oh God... I guess, sexually new would be... I don't really know how to say it... Phew!" HOW LONG CAN YOU LAST? "I guess as long as my girlfriend wants me to."
