This past winter has been the worst on record here on the East Coast of Newfoundland EVER. We broke the all-time record for snowfall in one season. I think that's encouragement enough to want to escape to a warm, sunny location.

We departed St. John's Airport at 8:15 p.m. and landed at Puerto Plata Airport at 1:15 a.m. Dominican Time ( which was 1:45 a.m. in Newfoundland - only a half-hour time difference ).

After a "speedy" - to say the least - ride we arrived at Playa Naco Golf and Tennis Resort and our vacation began...

Here are some photos of our first trip to the Dominican Republic, but it won't be our last. We plan on returning next winter and can not wait...

Playa Dorado Shopping Plaza - 5 minute walk from Playa Naco You may go for a ride on one of these horse drawn carriages. We were there for the end of Carnaval, and went to the closing Carnaval Parade. Another Carnaval Float - The Building in the background is the Puerto Plata Fire Station.
