| Note: the Railroad link between San Francisco and Los Angeles was joined up in September of |
| 1876. I'm taking advantage of the fact The Big Valley writers could never get their dates |
| right. This story takes place between 1876 and 1878 (when Bakersfield got connected to San |
| Francisco by the South Pacific Railroad. Can you say "Leanne's done too much research?"). I |
| also messed with their travelling time by a day. Not that you'd notice. |
