(09-18-09) UPDATE : Minneboji Family,I have some sad news to share with you. Liz Lias, who has been a counselor at camp for a few years (lately with Honors Camp), was killed in a car accident last night near Vermillion, SD. She was on her way to Sioux Falls, when another vehicle, heading the wrong way on the divided highway, hit her head-on. Liz died instantly, according to the authorities. The young lady in the other vehicle is recovering from her injuries. Liz's funeral is Tuesday, September 22, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. There is a time to meet the family the night before, also at Memorial, from 5-8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. (Liz's congregation of membership is Our Redeemer, Sioux Falls, but space concerns there have necessitated the move to Memorial for these services.) Memorial is located at 5000 S. Western Avenue, just south of I-229 (take the Western Avenue exit, and proceed south, not far from the corner of 57th and Western). Liz knew her Savior, Jesus, and best of all, He knows and loves her. She was redeemed by His blood. It is her eternal pleasure now to be in His wonderful presence in heaven, where we will all gather someday! Please keep Liz's family and friends in your prayers. God bless and keep all of you in His loving care,

(06-23-09) UPDATE : The updates to the site continue (Spirit Award winners are up) and I should be done resizing photographs soon. I will upload them soon. A camp highlight was mission presenter John Hall's report on the work being done by Trinity/Hope in Haiti. It was so inspiring to the campers that many requested to be able to donate parts of their spending cards to help feed children & an anonymous donor even agreed to match the funds donated by the campers. When all is said and done, Camp Minne-boji sent on a check of $431.55 on behalf of the donations made by the camp. AMAZING! Upon recieving this news, John Hall sent us the following message...
"Dear Brothers, $431.55 is a lot of money and it is certainly a lot of money for the campers to give. It will provide 1465 meals. I was truly impressed with the children and this just confirms how great and committed they truly are. Their gift is totally impressive. That is a lot of missed cokes and snacks to help others. If you have a way please express my thanks to them on behalf of the children they are blessing." Blessings and Thanks, John Anyone wishing for more information on Trinity/Hope, you can find them at www.trinityhope.org. Keep checking back for updates.

(02-07-08) UPDATE : CAMP MINNEBOJI – June 22-28, 2008! - “Don’t Forget His Lyrics!” is the theme of Camp Minneboji this summer. God’s people have been remembering the great deeds of God through Psalms, hymns, and songs for centuries. Our Bible studies and other aspects of camp will be built on this theme, as the campers will especially be led by way of the Psalms to remember what God has done for them through Jesus. Camp Minneboji is for those who are currently in grades 4 through 9. The camp, located at Camp Okoboji in northwest Iowa, features Bible study, mission presentations, crafts, music time, sports and recreation. Cost is $225 for 4th-8th graders and $255 for 9th graders (Honor's Camp). Camp registration booklets will be mailed directly to last year’s campers and in bulk to the congregations by April 1. Contact the me for more information.

Camp Minne-Boji will be held from June 25th through July 1st in 2006. 2nd, all campers (other than this year’s “Honors Campers”) will receive the 2006 Minneboji registration brochures by mail at your home mailing address sometime in March. (06-28-05) UPDATE : Thanks, Counselors and Honors Staff! For your time with the young people of our camp, and for keeping track of sports activities, supervising at canteen time, and a whole lot more! Your help is much appreciated and needed. You have a special place in the lives of our 317 young people.
And then there’s the Staff: Pastor Asmus, you have got to be one of the best at any camp, by any lake! Pastor Mueller, no intergalactical “force” coerces us to say what a great job you have done (we will always remember Brett “Yoda” Mueller and his two lovely wives). Pastors Possehl and Deardoff, you have opened up the Scriptures to help us see the possibilities of our own Bold Witness, led by God’s Spirit and Word. Thanks to you all!
Pastors David Otten and Scott Sailer
(06-26-05) UPDATE :
Welcome home campers! Wow, another great year of fun at Minne-boji! Courageous Faith : Bold Witness! Just thought I'd drop you all a quick note here. As most the campers know, I left camp early this year to spend time with my Dad, who is sick in the hospital. Because of that, right now I don't have photos and information about our Spirit of Okoboji award winners (along with a few other items). Sometime soon (not sure when yet), I plan to get additional photos and camp information from Pastors' Otten & Sailer. As soon as I do, I will update the site with them and let you know here in the News & Updates section. In the meantime, I did already post up what pictures I took before I left in the photos section. So go on over & take a look. Have a wonderful and blessed summer!

(06-11-05) UPDATE :
A big, last minute update here for you all before you finish your packing! In the camp booklet, we asked you all to bring along an empty 2 liter plastic bottle for crafts. We NO LONGER need you to bring those bottles as we have made a change to some of our crafts we will be making. So, if you already have a bottle, you DO NOT NEED TO BRING IT along with you to camp. Pass along this message to any other campers at your church this week if you can. Thanks & we all look forward to seeing you all shortly!

(12-22-04) UPDATE : So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:4-7
A wonderful and blessed Christmas to you all!
DAVYD

away this morning. Andrea Urbach, wife of former Minneboji leader, Pastor Brad Urbach. She had been fighting her illness for a few years now. We rejoice in the gift of eternal life given to her by our
gracious God. Andrea's memorial service is this Saturday, 10 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre, SD. Our thoughts & prayers are with Brad & his family. SHALOM !!!

(04-19-03) UPDATE : Hello everyone. I have a few bits of information to pass on to you. First, if you or your church have not yet recieved your registration booklets for this coming summer, please email either myself here at the website email or the camp dean and we'll be sure to get one out to you. In a related note, we will be making our 1st update soon to our new "registration updates" page that can be found by clicking on the link of the same name on the main page. For those of you not sure whether it is to late to send in your registration forms, you can click on that page to see how close to filling up camp is. Remember to hurry up & get those forms in ASAP as camp always fills up FAST. Next a note to potential 2003 camp counselors, hurry up & get those counselor applications in soon. If you are interested in becoming a counselor, notify the camp dean. Also, a reminder that our new, special counselor training day is also coming soon. It will be in Sioux Falls, SD at Faith Lutheran Church on May 31st. For more information, once again contact the camp dean. For address & emails, remember to click on the "contact information" link on our main page. During this time of international conflict, we all have many things we don't have a clue about that we'd like to learn. As I mentioned in a previous update, Lutheran Hour Ministries has set up a great site to help at www.whowillteach.com. It explains in more detail the differences & beliefs of the Islam faith. Finally as many of you have already noticed, I have been busy making many changes to the website. I plan to be making more in the next week or 2, so keep checking back. Most of the changes are "cosmetic", but I will also be adding some new pages such as a Boji Blabber-about our site page & a new Camp History & Fun Facts page that I know will be a favorite for many. Have a blessed Easter celebration. SHALOM !!!
DAVYD

No official 2003 camp theme yet, but we are looking at something along the lines of "Designer Labels !" ,in which we will focus on Creation, Redemption, Regeneration, Faith, Means of Grace, Sanctification, Christian Living, & Heaven. Should be another GREAT year. We also welcome Pastors Bart Mueller (Lakefield, MN) and Dan Deardoff (Brandon, SD) to our staff for 2003.
DAVYD
(07-03-02) UPDATE :
Hello Minnebojians, Glad to see you here at the online Boji Blabber (for those that don't know, the BojiBlabber is the name of our daily newsletter at camp). 90% of the pictures from camp this year are up on the website. Just click on the Photo Album page to see them. As always with so many pics, it will take a while for them all to upload for you the 1st time unless you happen to have a cable modem. So remember to be patient. The few pictures that I haven't put up yet will be done in about a week & a half, after I return from the SD Youth Gathering in Pierre. So keep checking back. I already updated the rest of the site with all new 2002 Minneboji information. This includes the awards, missions, and bible study pages. NEW to the bible study page is links for each days' "Towering Truth" bible study. Parents & campers are encouraged to visit these pages (print them out if you like) and go through the bible studies together to review what was learned at camp. I do have a few ideas for some new features here at the website that I hope to do. When I do them I will update here to let everyone know. As always, your imput is welcome. Make sure to stop in the message board & leave a note for your fellow campers & counselors. It is free, easy, & you don't have to register for anything. God's blessings to you all,
DAVYD
(06-29-02) UPDATE :

Now we all know about our TOWERING TRUTH, Jesus Christ. Later, DAVYD
(06-17-02) UPDATE :Hey everyone! WOW, what a week here at the website. Our traffic has picked up so much over the last few days that we exceded our allowed bandwidth space several times. A few of you may have recieved an error page & weren't able to access the site for a few hours because of this. (for those of you wondering, bandwidth has to do with the number of people visiting & accessing information from a website all at the same time.) Earlier today I added 3 times our previous bandwidth. Hopefully that will be enough so that everybody can visit without any problems. I'm excited by all of the traffic. Since the beginning of June we have had just under a 1000 visitors check out our site. I guess that means that you're all excited to go to camp. It's less than a week away & I can't wait to get there. Also, we have had another problem this week in the form of our email account has been unable to be accessed due to our provider going through some site maintainance & redesigning. If anyone has atempted to send us email or needs to send us an email, until this inconveniance is done, you can contact me at the following email address, thirddayonline@yahoo.com. Look at the bright side though, it seems as if more & more people are finding out about the website and that's great news! See you all very soon,
DAVYD
(03-06-02) UPDATE :Hello everyone! Camp is coming soon, before we know it June will be here already. Camp registration books will be sent out to congregations soon, so check with your Pastor or church office to see if they are in. Our camp theme for 2002 is Towering Truth. To learn more look up Proverbs 18:10. Also, for those wanting understanding about the Islam beliefs, Lutheran Hour Ministries has set up a great site to help at www.whowillteach.com. Check it out if you get a chance. Catch you all later,
DAVYD
(01-03-02) UPDATE : Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Christmas celebration. Just thought I'd pass along a few notes of info. Network 54, the company who provides service of our message board free of charge, has added a page you must go to before getting to the board, just click on where it says to continue on to get to the message board. Second, a personal note to let you all know that I will be closing my flowershop, Garden of Eden in Mitchell. After 9 years, it is time for me to move on to other projects & to regain a little of my freedom. Last, the Christian music & youth ministry group, LOST & FOUND, will be in Sioux Falls on Feb. 15th. Below is more information. Welcome to the year 2002!!! DAVYD

 (11-13-01) UPDATE :
Brothers and Sisters, Your prayers are requested for Shannon Kidd's family. Shannon was killed in a car accident a couple of weeks ago. I believe her funeral was at the Howard Armory on October 29. Shannon was one of our babysitters at Camp this past summer and was a camper at several sessions of Minneboji over the years. Camp was very important to Shannon. Her friendships with fellow campers were one of the aspects of camp that she treasured most of all. We rejoice in her greatest Friend, our dear Lord, who gave His life that she -- and all of us -- are forgiven and live forever! God's PEACE to all of you!
Pastor Scott Sailer

We now have a new webpage name... www.minneboji.com Spread the word around! Also, I will soon have all-NEW information about next summer's camp. Keep checking back for 2002 camp news. DAVYD
(09-13-01) UPDATE : September 11th, 2001 is now a day that we will never forget. The cowardly, evil, & vicious attacks upon our United States and it's citizens has both shocked us as it has filled our hearts with great sadness as well. I believe that my sentiments placed here reflect those of most on this terrible day. My thoughts and more importantly my prayers have been constantly filled with empathy to the anguish that all those involved have been forced to endure. I continue to pray to the Lord to aid & comfort them and ask that all others do the same. We can't understand the meaning of these events but can be reassured by the fact that the Christians who were lost are now recieving their eternal reward and are now serving God in His heavenly kingdom. We shall all be joyously reunited with them someday and may take comfort from this fact. May the Lord grant us the wisdom to deal with this disaster as He wills & let the Holy Spirit touch our hearts and teach us forgiveness. Those who want to make a donation to aid those in need will find a link below in which to do so. May God bless you all & watch over you during this time of national strife.

Yours in Christ Jesus, DAVYD
(07-19-01) UPDATE : All the 2001 camp pictures are now up. Hope you all enjoy them. Several of my pictures didn't turn out, such as from the Treasure Village play and the Talent Show. If anyone has any good photos of these events or any other pictures you'd like to see on the website, feel free to contact me about submitting them. Just email me at the website email address. Remember to leave a note for your friends on the "Camper Messages" page. Also a note of advise, if you go to the camp pictures page 1st & let all the photos load up, it will make them come up faster everywhere else on the site. After a picture is loaded up once at a specific computer then it usually pops right up the next time you view it. Last, but not least, everyone who is going to the national youth convention in New Orleans, have a fun & safe trip. I went there for the gathering in 1992 and it was a blast. God Bless you all, DAVYD
(07-18-01) UPDATE : If any of you had a problem with the site loading properly over the last couple days, it was because our host site (Angelfire) was doing some service work. Just thought you'd like to know what's up. DAVYD
(07-16-01) UPDATE : Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,Greetings to you in the name of Jesus, our Solid Rock and the One on Whom we are "Grounded"! Thank you so much for serving as a counselor at Camp Minneboji this summer. Camp went great this year, and you were a major reason for its success. You invested your time for the purpose of guiding and supporting your cabin kids. You may never know how indelibly you left your mark on the kids, or, more accurately, how God used you to help them. This was a transition year in many respects, especially because Pastor Urbach
is no longer at the helm. Yet, the fine structure he and the staff developed over the years provided a reliable pattern and precedent to guide us all. It
all worked well, as each of us did our part (the members of the Body of Christ pulling together, you might say!). While we do have a tried and true structure for camp, we are always open to suggestions for making Camp Minneboji even better. Please share your ideas with either of us. We'd love to hear from you! Please consider returning as a counselor again next summer. The dates are June 23-29, 2002. We are considering having a more in-depth Counselor Orientation, perhaps on the Saturday before camp. We'd more than likely hold this in Sioux Falls, since several of us on the staff live there and because
Sioux Falls is fairly central to you counselors. We'll be sure to inform you early in 2002 of our specific plans for the orientation. One last request: Please e-mail, call, or write Dean Sailer with your tentative "yes" or "no" regarding your plans to serve as a counselor next year. Give him your opinion about a lengthier orientation session as well. I do believe we would continue to offer the traditional 1:30-3:00 p.m. session on the opening day of camp to accommodate those who cannot attend an earlier, lengthier session. Again, thank you so much for being a vital part of Minneboji 2001! In Christ,
Pastor Scott Sailer, Camp Dean Pastor David Otten, Camp Director
(07-12-01) UPDATE : New 2001 camp pictures are now posted and more are on the way so keep checking back. Remember that the pics take a minute to all load up, but it is worth it. Make sure to go to the Camper Messages section and leave a note for a friend. Thanks!
Davyd

During the 2001 spring pastors conference, Camp Dean Pastor Scott Sailer presents former camp business manager Pastor Brad Urbach with gifts to show our appreciation for his 29 years of faithful service as the director of Camp Minneboji.
