Too Late by Ashwin

Shimmering in the moonlight,
A feeling I try to fight,
I lunge toward the image,
In the cold and desolate night,

I hear a voice whispering,
I’m starting to react to everything,
My ears remain alert,
I’m looking for a sign, anything,
Suddenly I see your silhouette,
I try to hold still, try not to fret,
Yet you seem to move farther away,
The closer that I get,

And the less and less I see you,
As it is nearing dawn,
I want to say I love you,
But just like that, you’re gone.
