About Victor

Victor had an amazing vocabulary of over 800 words. About one year prior to his death he began to talk to me in context but I couldn't understand everything he was saying. As a result I began recording him on the computer. This allowed me to amplify the files and understand them better. During my sessions Victor would listen to me and I would tell him what I understood and where he could improve. After a while he started to look forward to being recorded and his ability to converse reached amazing heights. He was often recorded saying several hundred words in a row in perfect context and telling me exactly what he was thinking. On his memorial site I even have several videos of him talking in the same fashion. He was a true artist in the way he used humour, his imagination and expressed himself.

About Betty

Betty came to us as a mate for Victor shortly before he died. She learned most of Victor's vocabulary in less than three months. Right now she is only about one year old and has documented recordings with a vocabulary of several hundred words. She is a little bit harder to understand than Victor as she combines some of her words with chirps and talks very quietly. She is using context too and talks often about missing Victor and what Victor taught her before he died. You can hear some of those recordings on this site. Currently she has a new mate whose name is Toovic. In less than one month, she taught him in the same fashion that Victor taught her. He has already been recorded talking about Betty and how they get along together.
