Troyce3's Journey with WW

The above picture is my before picture with my daughter Mandi
Well, here I am at 230 pounds...standing next to my daughter. You can see I had a problem with weight. I look at that picture now and cringe. Amazing what you don't consider a problem...until it stares you in the face. My knees were shot and I was suffering with depression...also looking at diabetes and heart problems if things didn't change. I was also nearing my 50th birthday...that is what changed my mind. I swore I wasn't going to turn 50 with all that weight!!! So on November 30...my sister and I joined Weight Watchers together. It has been "quite" a journey so far. My sister finally hit her goal and made lifetime. She didn't have quite as far to go as I had. But I am so very proud of her. She still attends the meetings just to encourage me on...Bless her heart! It has helped me tremendously too! My husband decided that he wanted to support me too...so he started the program!!! He has lost 43.5 pounds!! It has taken me a year to lose 59.2 pounds...it started off dropping really fast...but thank goodness it has slowed down. I have a lot to go and I wanted to help my body along the way by exercising...I joined the YMCA in January (2 months) after I started WW. It has really helped a lot. Just walking on the treadmill for 3 days a week for 30 minutes worked wonders...from doing nothing to walking 3 times a week. What an improvement for me. I probably could have lost faster if I had stuck to the plan 100% every week...but as they say, "I'm human and this is a lifestyle change". It is a learning process and knowing what you decide to put into the program is what you get out of it. I started to slow down when Summer approached...vacations to Vegas and then Colorado were a big test. I passed...I didn't adhere to the program very well...but I had learned enough to know I wasn't going to quit! I still managed to maintain and have only gained a pound or two only 3 or 4 times so far. I learned not to beat myself up over my slips...I thank the weightwatcher.com boards for that! Those boards showed me that there were lots of other people like me having the same problems and struggles. Weight Watcher goal for my age and height is 145 pounds...I still have 25.8 pounds to go. I haven't decided on a personal goal yet. I am just excited to have come THIS far!!! LOL However, I can't let that go to my head. I don't want to get cocky and stop the process yet. I still have the end of the tunnel to reach and I WILL get there. This has been a very rewarding journey so far and I want to throw a "Thank you" to the Wendie's Plan. I hit a plateau 5 months after I started WW. I have been on the WP ever since. I personally think it's the best way to do the program. In the WW Getting Started booklet, on page 7, it talks about making the most of your Daily Points Range and Banking points...this is exactly how the Wendie's Plan works. As Wendie says..."it's Weight Watchers with a twist!" It works! That's about it. I am still working the program and loving every minute of it. Still finding new recipes and "rocking and banking those points"! This has been the best year...gaining new confidence and kicking the heavy poundage to the curb! I have plans on learning to Scuba Dive and learning how to ride a motorcycle! The sky is the limit...I have a new lease on life. Thanks to Weight Watchers and ME!
