~The desert sands blow across the wilderness.The cry of a stallion is heard echoing through the sand dunes as he calls to his mares and foals.~ You have been traveling for such a long time. No water for miles. Just sand and sand dunes. The hot sun beats down on you, and sweat pours down your body. You are ready to collapse when... All the sudden, the Great Rains that come ever so rarely fall from the heavens above. The quiet desert is not so quiet. It is filled with the many songs of birds, snakes, and wild Arabians running. Two stallions can been seen over a dune.A chestnut stallion rises over a grey one to smash his leg.He lands hard, breaking in into shatters. Hobbling, the Grey rolls over to just escape the kick that would have killed him. The Chestnut's eyes fill with desire to win and bashes into the Grey once more. With one more ounce of strength, the Grey stands and gives a bite that would change the life around the Desert. He lunges for the Chestnut throat. Grabbing, he throws him to the ground, and lands on him with a severe blow to the hindquarters. The Chestnut backs away, as the Grey hobbles up on three legs to claim his herd plus the other eighteen from the Chestnut. The Grey announces his Victory Call over the desert, and is heard by millions...by thousands. The Chestnut walks away, hoping to come across a mare or gain enough strength to ever come across the Grey again.
Blood running from his legs, he simply watches in pain the victorous Grey lead off his mares plus all the mares he gained from the Chesnut. Head hanging... away he walks. Hopefully.. he will survive the night with such bad injuries. For the grey, it is tough. With eighteen more mares and foals to deal with, he has a full-time job. The coyotes are heard as night settles in. The foals fall asleep, as the stallion stands guard, and sleeps lightly.
Things like this happen all the time. Here in the Desert, Arabians were transported 1,402 years ago here. They lived and thrived. Now, they still thrive with a never-dieing desire to Live, no matter what. There are many herds here, but are decreasing slowly due to the drought.
