The band started with two people, (guitarist) James Ma and (drummer) Ben Shorter. James had just started to study the arts of guitar early in the summer 2002. Ben had already been playing drums for 2 years. After getting used to the instrument, James took his guitaring skills over to Ben and they had the idea of starting a band, and the search was on for a bassist and a singer. James had a while ago been introduced to (bassist) Johann Holek by their (manager) Vanessa Johansson. James and Ben saught out Johann and asked him if he was interested in making a band with them. Johann agreed, and now 3 quarters of the band was complete, and the search for a singer was on. A few practises took place with just guitars, bass and drums, but soon they found themselves a few nominies for the spot. After hearing the competitors, they found their singer, (singer) James Babalos. The band was complete and practises began. The band practised in Ben's garage, and it started with playing cover songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This was important for the band, for it is not easy to play along with other people, timing must be perfect, and you have to get to know everyone's style and attitude towards playing music, you have to be able to predict exactly how everyone else is going to play the next part, and build yourself into that. After about 2 months of practising on cover songs, the band began to compose their own songs, starting with two hits, Die The Day and Faults Undone. These songs were performed at their very first gig which took place at the Boys and Girls Club in November. The gig was tough, they up against some very talented bands, and they were the only non-punk band playing. But still, even against all odds, they came out with the best response from the audience. This motivated the band, they found playing live was a great experience and wanted to do it more and more. On January 17 2003, they played an electrifying show at Seaquam Secondary.
