Cinderella

During the 1998-1999 Season, we put on Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. (The Following is taken from many parts of the Cinderella Program including Directors note, cast lists, production staff, etc...) "Cinderella" is the classic Fairy Tale of how a young peasant girl, assisted by the magical powers of her Fairy Godmother, meets her prince, falls in love and lives happily ever after. Many composers, playwrights, and producers have tried their hands at making this story come alive. As far back as 1817, the Italian composer, Gioacchino Rossini wrote the famous opera, La Cenerentola(which translates to mean Cinderella). There's the Disney version we all know and love, with Gus Gus and Jacques, the mice, playing key roles; there's Lesley Anne Warren(1964) made for TV version, which took everyone's breath away in the 60's and became an anticipated annual event. Most recently Disney produced Rodgers and Hammerstein version with famous celebraties such as Brandy, Whitney Houston, Jason Alexander, Bernadette Peters and many more. The film entitled Ever After gave us a most realistic depiction, in drammatic form, of the truly classic timeless story.
