About Japan
- Location - Japan consists of several thousands of islands, of which Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku are the four largest. Closest neighbours are Korea, Russia and China. The Sea of Japan separates the Asian continent from the Japanese archipelago.
- Population - 127,581,000 (estimate 2004) almost whole population is Japanese (more than half of non-Japanese is Korean)
- Language - Japanese
- Climate - The climate varies in different regions. Most of the major cities, including Tokyo, is temperate to subtropic and consists of four seasons. It snows in some areas in winter . Summer is hot and humid. June is a rainy season, and typhoons hit parts of the country every year during late summer. The climate of the northern island of Hokkaido is colder.
