Introduction
In teaching and training situations,
resistance is a part of life. Whether we encounter resistance
from an individual or a group of people, we will all have to
deal with it at one time or another. However, if we learn to
recognize resistance in its beginning stages, we will be better
equipped to deal with it BEFORE it becomes a problem.
This course is designed to help you learn
more about resistance, its causes, prevention tactics and basic
survival tools for dealing with resistance. As you complete the
lessons in this course, you will find yourself becoming more
confident in your ability to deal with resistance in teaching
and training situations. As such, you will also become a more
competent and effective teacher or trainer.
As you begin, we invite you to read over
the objectives for this course. Once you are familiar
with what is covered in the course and what you will be
learning, feel free to take our
pre-test to see how much you
already know about resistance and other problem situations.
This test will also help you determine the areas where you will
want to spend the majority of your study.
The
learning activities section is
where you will want to spend most of your time. Here you will
find all of the course content and information that will guide
you on your journey of learning to recognize resistance and
other problem situations. Included here are activities to help
you better understand and apply what you are learning.
Additionally, there are
quizzes designed to test your
knowledge along the way.
Once you have completed the learning
activities and quizzes, we ask that you please take the
post-test
for this course. Not only will it help you gauge what you have
learned, but it will help us make improvements to the course for
future students. There is also an
evaluation form which allows you to send us your
comments about the course. We encourage you to take the time to
complete the evaluation.
