Comments:

It’s not surprising at all that this recording has actually surfaced - unlike The Doors, Jimi Hendrix was well known for taking to concerts with him a 4-track tape recorder and virtually taping every performance. The Doors had performed at The Scene many times before, supposedly including a jam session that The Doors done with Tiny Tim. However on this occasion The Doors did not play at The Scene. Jimi Hendrix was performing in town at the time and he sang & played lead guitar on stage and jammed with other musicians whose exact identities are still not clear.

The Doors appeared at Steve Paul's Scene in 1967.

According to rock biographer, Albert Goldman, he had interpreted Morrison’s brush with Hendrix at The Scene as Morrison rushing on stage and clutching Hendrix’s leg - an attempted blow job. Jim was highly intoxicated as he sang obscenely and rambled on. Jim only sang two songs, "Bleeding Heart" and "Morrison’s Lament". The Scene was located in Manhattan, just a few blocks away from The Times Square and was literally a cellar that had been turned out into a small club. The Scene had been in existence since 1964 and had finally closed down in 1969.
