Chhhhiiiiiilllllllllyyyyyy!

Happy New Millennium !

Thanks for coming by Our Page.  As you might have read in Cristie's Corner, we spent the holidays in California.  Really felt good to be there and spend time with our family there.

A laugh a minute

As you might know I have been an English Language Instructor here in Japan for several years and have found it to be an incredibly rewarding experience.  For the past year, or so, Yoko and I have been developing educational software which combines some traditional methods with state-of-the-art technology.

As my friends and family know all too well I enjoy camping and fishing very much.  This past spring and summer we enjoyed camping near Lake Yamanaka (Doshi river, pictured on the right) and at Yatsugatake, in the famous Nagano prefecture.  Not many fish to speak of so I won't.

Okay, where r the fish?

Last year I tried my hand at assembling a computer from scratch.  All of the information I needed was at my fingertips thanks to the Internet.  I assembled what I like to call a "poor man's 450mhz".  I got a Celeron 300a and by placing a couple of extra fans in the case I was able to overclock the speed to 450mhz.  Not as easy as it sounds, but almost.
The machine is now our network server.  Using Windows NT Server 4.0 we are able to host web pages and stream video and audio.  If you are on a 56K line or higher then you have to try our Live Broadcast Conference.  Just let us know when!

Not me but maybe someday!

One of my favorite internet software programs is Internet Phone 5 by Vocaltec.  With little experience, and moderate amount of patience, you can be a video conference guru like me. Check it out.

The Hubble Telescope continues to expel a plethora of images thanks to NASA and the many astronomers and technicians associated with the project.   Almost every month they release images and information enabling all of us to be armchair astronomers.

Take the tour!

Tour the cosmos!!!

"Astronomers are getting a fresh look at what may be the early stages of planetary system formation. Recent pictures by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope don't show actual planets, but rather edge-on disks that provide some of the clearest views to date of potential planetary construction zones. The photos may hold clues to what happened some 4.5 billion years ago when the Earth and the other planets in the Solar System condensed out of a similar pancake-shaped disk around our young Sun."

These photos and many more can be seen / downloaded at Latest Hubble Releases, Nasa.
