A. Musical Instrument Dictionary: 1. Use the links on the Resource Page to learn about the following musical instruments: violin, clarinet, trumpet, timpani, viola, flute, trombone, cymbals, oboe, cello, tambourine, tuba, snare drum, French horn, bassoon, xylophone, double bass, saxophone 2. Open a Microsoft Works blank document. Using the information from the resources, type in each dictionary entry using the following format: Name of instrument - definition (insert picture) Make sure you alphabetize the names of each musical instrument. Your definition of each instrument should include what materials it is made out of (metal, wood, etc.), how it is played (plucked, blown into, hit with sticks, etc.), the instrument family to which it belongs, and any other distinguishing characteristics that makes it special. After completing the definitions, "right click" on pictures of each musical instrument to copy and paste into your document next to each entry. B. Attribute Chart: 1. Print out the blank attribute chart on the resource page. 2. Use the information from your Musical Instrument Dictionary to complete the chart. C. Invent a Musical Instrument: 1. Print out the blank "Invent a Musical Instrument" form on the resource page. 2. Using your Musical Instrument Dictionary and your attribute chart as a guide, invent a musical instrument that has at least one characteristic from each family. Your invented instrument must have an original name, and you must include how it will be played, and what materials it will be made out of.
