Call Backs

So, you've tried out and have been put on the call backs list. Congratulations! Call Backs is like a second audition, the judges liked what you did and want to take a second look on you. YOU ARE NOT IN THE PLAY YET!! Some people think that if they are on call backs, they are automatically in the play so they don't try as hard. Don't do this! You must do just as well if not better as you did at the first audition. Really, there's not a whole lot to say about this, it's basically just another audition, but keep these few tips in mind:

*Speak loudly. No one wants a quiet little mouse playing a lead role.

*If you are reading lines, think about what the character is doing with his arms, hands, face, etc. Don't just stand there and fidget with the zipper on your jacket. Do something!

*If they ask you to sing, act confident and again, think about what you are doing! If you are singing a song that is very hard to act out, it's O.K. to stand there and not move, but at least use facial expressions.

*If you have to dance, smile! Act like you are having fun! Get up there and make the judges say, "Wow!" Don't be overly dramtic and obnoxios, but you don't want to seem exactly like every one else in the room.

*Speak slower than you normally would, but not so slow that it seems like you are dragging on, and on, and on. What seems slightly exagerated to you seems normal to the audience and people off stage. But if you speak like you would any day, than in the audience it sounds like you are speaking really fast. It's kind of like when you are on the telephone, you have to speak a little slower than usual for the person on the other end to understand you, but you don't have to speak really, really, really slow.

*Remember, from the time you get on stage to the time you sit down, you are not you anymore, you are your character.
