The orthodox church

    The orthodox church is the oldest Christian church established. the Coptic church is based on the teachings of St. Mark who brought Christianity to Egypt in the time of Nero. Sense the St. Mark arrived in Alexandria Christianity had spread through out Egypt in half a century. The Coptic orthodox church is more than 19 centuries old. at the beginning of the time the church got established it remained strong, unchangeable, and unaffected by the other religious influence around them.

The Muslim invasion  

After the Arabs who are Muslims invited Egypt they still remained Christian. the Coptic Christian were allowed to practice there religion freely, but the Muslims demanded a tax so they allow them to continue on with there practice. the tax was called "Gezya". If the person was too poor to pay they had two choices ether to be killed or convert to Islam.
