Slayer Past & Present Tour Setlists

Here you will find some sort of database guide, if you will, on setlists performed year by year from 1983-Present of Slayer.

This will help Traders, especially new ones looking for certain songs & such, locate when certain songs have been performed and the average setlist for the particular tour. Happy trails!

Average Setlist from 1983:

1. Black Magic
2. Die by the Sword
3. Tormentor
4. Simple Aggression^
5. Blitzkrieg*
6. Ice Titan*
7. Assasin*
8. Night Rider*
9. Crionics
10.Aggressive Perfector

* = Unreleased Song
^ = Demo and working name for "The Final Command"

On Average: All songs from the "Show No Mercy" record are performed. Track list order varies from show to show.

Show Quality: Most shows recorded from this era are mediocre sounding audience recordings. Even soundboard recordings from this year are not that impressive.

Average Setlist from 1984:

1.Hell Awaits {intro}
2.Evil Has no Boundaries
3.Haunting the Chapel
4.Face the Slayer
5.Final Command
6.Necrophiliac
7.Crionics
8.Black Magic
9.Aggressive Perfector
10.Captor of Sin
11.Chemical Warfare
12.Antichrist
13.Fight til Death
14.Witching Hour {Venom Cover}
15.Die by the Sword
16.Show no Mercy

or:

1.Aggressive Perfector
2.Face the Slayer
3.Final Command
4.Captor of Sin
5.Necrophiliac
6.Crionics
7.Fight til Death
8.Antichrist
9.Haunting the Chapel
10.Black Magic
11.Die by the Sword
12.Evil has no Boundaries
13.Show no Mercy

On Average: All songs from the "Haunting the Chapel" EP are done along with most of the "Show No Mercy" songs. Necrophiliac is introduced live before the "Hell Awaits" record is released. Track list of shows varies somewhat. Overall the same however.

Show Quality: On average you'll find some great sounding audience and soundboard recordings. But... you'll find a lot of shows that aren't that good at all.

Average Setlist from 1985:

1.Hell Awaits
2.Aggressive Perfector
3.Captor of Sin
4.Praise of Death
5.Haunting the Chapel
6.Hardening of the Arteries
7.Fight til Death
8.Antichrist
9.At Dawn they Sleep
10.Show No Mercy
11.Final Command
12.Crypts of Eternity
13.Necrophiliac
14.Black Magic
15.Die by the Sword
16.Evil has no Boundaries
17.Chemical Warfare
18.Kill Again

On Average: Hell Awaits opens every show. Songs selected from the "Hell Awaits" record vary, but they have played every song from the album throughout the shows. Not as many songs from "Show No Mercy" played at each show. Song rotation from "Show No Mercy" is good.

Show Quality: On average you'll find a heap load of great soundboard recordings from this era. Some decent audience recordings as well as some bad ones. But definately a LOT of soundboard recordings can be found from this tour!

Average Setlist from 1986:

1.Raining Blood
2.Angel of Death
3.Die by the Sword
4.In Praise of Death
5.Criminally Insane
6.Necrophiliac
7.Necrophobic
8.Captor of Sin
9.Reborn
10.Black Magic
11.Postmortem
12.Epidemic
13.Hell Awaits
14.Chemical Warfare
15.At Dawn they Sleep
16.Altar of Sacrifice
17.Jesus Saves

On Average: Song rotation is not great at all from this tour. Don't get me wrong, the setlist from this tour destroys all, but if you're looking to find different shows from `86 with different setlists and different songs played, you won't find em.

Show Quality: You'll find some soundboard recordings, but not really alot. Some good audience recordings, along with a few that are sub-par. Noting really too bad though.

Average Setlist from 1987:

January-March - Tony Scaglione on Drums

1.Raining Blood
2.Reborn
3.At Dawn they Sleep
4.Die by the Sword
5.Angel of Death
6.Epidemic
7.Altar of Sacrfice
8.Jesus Saves
9.Evil has no Boundaries

On Average/Show Quality: Most of the shows with Tony on drums, just plain old SUCK! Don't bother getting them unless you wanna hear a lot of disappointments in both the show itself, and the quality of the shows from that era. There is NO double bass solo in Angel of Death. They go directly into Epidemic when that part is supposed to happen. Also Tony does, NO double bass whatsoever on any of the songs that have em. Most recordings I've heard are practically unlistenable to pretty bad. I'd aviod these until you have all the rest.

April-December - Dave Lombardo RETURNS! (Thank GOD!!!)

1.Intro
2.Raining Blood
3.Angel of Death
4.Die by the Sword
5.Praise of Death
6.Criminally Insane
7.Necrophiliac
8.Necrophobic
9.Black Magic
10.Captor of Sin
11.Reborn
12.Postmortem
13.Epidemic
14.Hell Awaits
15.Altar of Sacrifice
16.Jesus Saves
17.At Dawn they Sleep
18.Chemical Warfare

On Average/Show Quality: Glad that Dave returned! This setlist is practically what EVERY show is, so the same advice for the `86 shows goes for this. 2 or 3 soundboard shows are out there, the rest are audience recordings that range from pretty good to moderately bad.

Show Quality: On average you'll find a good amount of soundboard and audience recordings out there. If all else fails, go buy "Decade of Aggression" since that's all from the `90-`91 tour!

So those songs are the rare songs for this tour.

Show Quality: On average you'll find a good amount of soundboard and audience recordings out there. If all else fails, go buy "Decade of Aggression" since that's all from the `90-`91 tour!

Average Setlist from 1992:

On Average/Show Quality: The order of the songs has changed, but it's basically the same songs from `94 with the addition of Sex, Murder, Art & At Dawn They Sleep. There is 1 show (8/11/95) that is THE ONLY SHOW where they do Circle of Beliefs and The Exploited cover songs "War" and "Disorder". So that show alone is the gem from this era!
