a bit about myself
Jordan R.D. Russell

A bit about myself…
I am a 22 year old drummer, hailing from Kitchener, now residing in Hamilton. The Bible of Rock, in my opinion, has been written by the masters: Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Motörhead, Cream, and Led Zeppelin. . I’ve played in a number of bands, from a nine piece funk band to pit orchestra and pretty much everything in between. I am also an accomplished piano player with my grade nine conservatory.

To say I am a film buff is an drastic understatement.

My acting experience consists of….
several plays throughout high school including The Crucible, Zoo Story and Split. As well as several Shakespeare plays including Twelfth Night, Macbeth, and Hamlet, which I had the title role in.

Height: 6' 3''

*What do you think makes a great film?

I think that what makes a film great is the passion for and the love of the art that the movie makers have for the film... but, with a great director/writer it is transformed into the greatest film ever made.
Mind you, great movies aren’t always movies that immediately strike a viewer’s interest. They can be based on subject matter the viewer has always disliked, or has no, up to that time, watched because the sheer filming and cinematography could become of great intrigue.

Special effects, which play on people’s minds, a significant soundtrack, scenery, and camera angles, can make a movie (maybe not great but) extravagant. Then there's editing. I can't say enough about good editing.

Movies that relate to real life events and touch the viewer’s hearts through strong emotional appeal also help create good movie standards. The truth as it can be presented on film can be overwhelming, frightening, irrational, tender or idiotic and people will love to watch it as well.

But I digress.

*What do you look for in a director?

I look for a person who wants to make a significant, indelible and influential contribution to the development of film and the film. A person who truly loves the art form and has a vested interest in the making of the film. I look for a person who has a compelling vision and groundbreaking style. I look for a person who wants to put their personal stamp on the film, the project they’re working on. Mostly though, I like working with directors who know exactly what they want from any one scene. I am happy to do one take or one hundred takes as long as I’m following the director’s vision.

*What types of roles appeal to you?

My interest in acting is making the production as believable as possible. I enjoy the challenge of any character and their contribution to the story. I am most attracted to the roles that offer the most challenge.

*Is there anything you won't do on film?

That’s simple: porn. Anything rated X. NC 17 is fine but one or more X’s is out.
