Harris began to use a custom-built PA
system that enabled the (almost!) faithful reproduction of his Spanish
nylon-strung guitar. The set-up would change with each concert and
luckily, Dale's audiences appreciated the extra projection that the
electronic system offered.

After playing his guitars for
some
years, Dale Harris met Luther Manuel Contreras in the summer of 2005.
Manuel kindly arranged to have some work done on Dale's guitar free of
charge (and happily accepted some Spanish wine and strong cheese in
exchange!).
During the summer of
2006, Dale Harris played at the special musical event in aid of the
'FreyaBeya'charity which was
held on Saturday, June 10 at Shrivenham's Memorial
Hall, Wiltshire, UK. The event was arranged by Freya's family -
mother Sarah-Jayne Dawes, along with husband Steve.
Freya Dawes died at the age of five she left gaping hole in the lives of her family. She was born in 1999 with Sturge Weber Syndrome a disorder which causes abnormalities in the body. Dale waved his usual fee, instead sold CD's and donated a portion of the profits to the FreyaBeya charity. The event raised in excess of £2500.00. ![]() Dale Harris in 1984 Postcard from Hari Hari, New Zealand ![]() Lorne Gibson Dale Harris's
concerts often include items written for a specially
modified steel-string acoustic guitar by Adrian Legg. It was the
producer Ian Grant who
introduced Dale to a legend in British country music, the singer Lorne
Gibson.
Dale was immediately asked to join the Lorne Gibson Trio (in a
role
formerly occupied by Adrian Legg), and they performed numerous concerts
and
British Isles tours together.
At their concerts, Lorne would often insist that Dale played a solo spot. He asked Dale if he knew Asturias by Albeniz to which the reply was yes (it was a work that Dale often performed whilst at music college circa 1983-5). The first few times he played with Lorne, Dale was surprised but pleasantly surprised by the reaction of the audience. They usually played country and folk music venues (and fairly often in noisy public houses) the crowd would quickly hush, realising that something special was taking place. Dale always thinks of these magical times when performing Asturias.
