Hello, and welcome to our page. We did some information on one of the best female blues artists in history.

Blues, one of the many styles of music formed years ago. Though there were many artists that performed Blues, we are going to talk about one. Koko Taylor, known as the "Queen of Blues". Koko was born on September 28th 1935 on a sharecroppers farm in Memphis, Tennasee. Koko devoloped her love of music through the music she had heard during church and on B.B King's radio show. Koko's father incouraged Koko to sing gospel music, but her and her siblings would always sneak out and play blues with their homemade instruments. At age 18 Koko and her fiance moved to Chicago to look for work. Koko found a job as a house-maid for a wealthy family in the Northern Suburbs. At the end of the day Koko and her husband would visit various clubs and hear musicians such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Magic Sam, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells. Soon enough, Koko became one of the musicians people listened to in the clubs. Koko's big break was in 1962. She was one of the few female blues singers. In 1972 Koko formed her own band, The Blues Machine. Unfortunatley in 1988 Koko broke her shoulder, collar bone, and several ibs in a van accident. Koko recovered and continued her singing career. Koko won every award blues has to give, and is still known as the blues Queen.
