The Red Start was formed in January of 2004. B.H. and Brendan started the band by writing bits of music for the song    that later became known as “Thanks Dad.” The two guys decided to put guitarist Ben in the band when they heard him play some of his own material. The original order of the band was Ben and B.H. on the guitar and Brendan on bass and vocals. They went through various people trying to fill the available slots still open. It seemed no one could quite the fit the band’s musical style though. They then went on a large sabbatical where nobody saw Brendan for about three months. When he returned he had very long hair, and a passion for the drums. He then said, “Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself,” Ben replied, “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.” Back to the original story though, the first several shows they played with no drums in Ben’s basement to small crowds. Brendan sang his heart out but unfortunately decided to step down. Fortunately they had a good back-up in guitarist Ben. B.H. also decided to switch from six strings to four (aka from guitar to bass). Brendan, the multi-talented, Native American loving, African cultured, groovy lovin’ mofo of a dude decided to beat things aka/and play percussion. The band then went on a music writing spree completing many songs in a short period of time. With about seven songs completed all the members agreed to add a piano to the lineup, in order to better capture their own sound. The guys decided on Tom Lohmuller to play piano for the band. He had been playing piano for about eight and a half years and seemed like a natural fit. The full quartet has been together for several months now. They currently have ten completed songs and are about to enter the recording studio to make a full length album and are playing shows around the Greater Fort Wayne area. Peace, Love, Rock and/or Roll (preferably both). The End
