At the ballpark
Topic: Baseball

Hudu had a ballgame today.  In fact, he had two.  He plays full-time with the JV team, and he gets to dress out and travel with the Varsity team and often gets a chance for an inning or two.  Today the JV played first (I missed that one because I didnt get off work in time) and the Varsity played just as I was getting off from work.  Hudu got to start and play two innings.  Unfortunately he only got one at-bat.  But I got lots of pictures of him catching.  And we got a few shots of Miss Gabbie too!

A Day of History
Topic: Baseball

Today my nephew's high school ball team got to be a part of - and meke their own - history.  They played a game at Rickwood Field - the oldest ball field in America.

Before the game they took the boys on a little tour of memorabilia there, and upon finding out that my nephew is a left-handed catcher, they pointed out to him another great left-handed catcher from the old Negro leagues - and when I researched later I found out that Larry Legrande was the last person to catch for Satche Page.  My nephew was impressed.

Here are a few pics from the day.

The whole team in front of the scoreboard.

It was a wonderful day.  I got a little too much sun (one week ago we had three inches of snow!)  I am so relaxed and exhausted from the fresh air and sun.  I think it was just what the doctor ordered!
