Me and BabyGurl are heading out early Sat a.m. to Pensacola, FL.  

We were planning to go to Gulf Shores late tomorrow to see a friend of ours who has a gig down there.  We called my cousin who lives in Pensacola and asked if he wanted to meet us there (it's about 40 miles from him).  He said we should come on down early and come to his place and we'd go to lunch and he'll take us to see the Blue Angels, then we can all go on over to GS to the gig.

Now this is the same cousin we stayed three days with about three years ago when he lived in New Orleans .... and ironically we are going to see the same friend that we went to see in New Orleans the last time we stayed with Cousin P. 

This is a VERY spontaneous road trip.  BabyGurl and I just decided around lunchtime today that we would go, and five minutes later Cousin P called BabyGurl and said "hey Gurl, what's up?".  So she asked him to meet us there and as they say ..... the rest is (or will be) history.

I'll post a report and pictures early next week!!  Woo Hoo!! Have I mentioned how much I love road trips?  Especially the spontaeous kind?

Mood:  happy

The trip is always a blast, but I always stress over packing.  I can never decide what to pack, so I end up with WAY too much stuff.  I'd never make it if I had to fly.  I dont know how Linda and Peg always manage to be so well put-together with only one suitcase.  Usually I never even wear half of what I take, but if I dont overpack then the one thing I dont take is the one thing I really really want to wear.  I guess it's a girl thing.

It's just that we are going out all the time ... that's the whole purpose of being there this particular week .... to go out every night to two different shows.  Then there's the 'day outfits' .... just jeans and tshirts for sightseeing and shopping.  At night we like to get all "gussied up" ... without looking like it of course!! 

Ok, so I'm taking jeans .... and lots and lots of tops .... and shoes.  I'll post lots of pictures when I get back.  I'll bet you cant wait!!  Ha Ha!

Ok ... back to packing I go!

Ok - Just got back from Wally-World.  I dont go there much any more, but I decided to 'stock up' a bit for the trip.  There'll be four of us ladies in our room (yep, for women in one room!) and I dont want us waking up (or getting in) at all hours of the night and needing a snack or drink and having to go pour two or three dollars each into some vending machine to get a stale snack or less-than-cold drink.  I got chips, snack mix, and granola bars. 

Now, back to that part about four of us in one room.  We are very thrifty, so we save everywhere we can.  Dividing a room (for six nights) four ways, saves a lot of money!  There'll be me and BabyGurl, 'Aunt' Linda, and our new friend Dawn.  We havent met Dawn yet, we just know her via an online writing group we all participate in.  Dont worry though, it's not the first time BabyGurl and I have roomed with a 'stranger', and it worked out perfectly the last time.  We met a wonderful lady named Peg, and now we are great friends!! 

 I gotta get busy now and start packing my suitcase!!  Woo Hoo!   Oh, and I bought two more tops and a pair of shoes (that I dont need, but who cares!!)

Woo Hoo!! Just five more days til my vacation!!  And boy do I need it!!

My daughter and I are going to Nashville for six days/nights of fun with good friends, and music, and good food and shopping.  And did I mention friends and music? 

We're gonna leave on Monday morning and stay til Sunday.  It's our annual trek to Tin Pan South, a songwriters' festival. 

We'll meet up with our friends from New Mexico, Michigan, Maryland, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, and more. 

I'll give you a recap after we get back.  Also, we ladies always go shopping for new boots.  We've found a great store where they are buy one pair get two pair free!!
