I Hate EMO

Well for my first post, rather than giving you a puddle-deep look at me, my personality and personal interests, I'm going to address a topic that really pissed me off. And that would have to be this recently created stereotype, called "EMO (short for 'Emotional')" It seems to be the latest trend around me for people to hook some chains on to their jeans, wear converse 24/7 and listen to shitty three-power-chord boy bands singing she-loves-me-not songs.

These people are trying to put on the pretense that they are anarchists and original disobeyers, when all they really achieve in my eyes is succumbing to another lame stereotype; it's all another attempt to "fit in" and "become popular." I mean there are a few kids in my grade who listen to decent "punk" music and dress that way because they always have, and then there are those who run out, buy a Dashboard Confessional sweatshirt, and have profiles that look l i k e this .

I know there are more than a few girls in my grade (and a few guys) who completely perpetrate the stereotype of the "dumb blonde," that is, act like total ditzes, become disgusted by the most immature topics, and flirt with everyone in sight. And then when they get home, they seclude themselves in their houses, and sit online all night with their profiles and away messages about pain and suffering, all of which is naturally false. If they really wanted pity or sympathy, they could never get it because when they're actually seen in the real world they're constantly acting happy-go-lucky and carefree, not to mention moronic.

So please, if you're going to seclude yourself and pretend you know nothing but pain, do it all the time. Otherwise act like your same idiotic self all the time.
