About The Petition

The Petition To Reopen The Kurt Cobain Investigation came about in a need for one centralized area, where fans of Kurt Cobain, Nirvana, or justice in general, can come to to download petitions to reopen the Kurt Cobain Murder Investigation. For years, ever since the Kurt Cobain broke, the internet has been to many online petition sites to reopen the case. And, nothing has been done to reopen the case up until this point. Why is that you may ask? The reason is because there are so many online petition sites. There is no way to know how many people have actually signed the online petitions since they are all run by different people. You may have signed the same one 5 times not knowing it, since there are so many. So, we decided to scrap the whole internet idea all together and go with the old fashioned pen and paper method. Sure, it takes a lot of work and dedication, but in the end the result is much more effective. Here is what you have to do to participate:

1. Find out as much as you can about the Kurt Cobain Murder Investigation by clicking on one of the links to the left. If you have made up your mind that the case needs to be reopened, simply come back to this site and download the petition.

2. The petition is in a .pdf file. All you need is the latest version of Adobe Reader, you can download it here Adobe Reader The pages dont need to be sized, just them, and print. The pdf file is approximately 74 KB and takes about 2-3 seconds to download via broadband, and 20-30 via Dial-Up. Download Petition

3. Next, you have to go out and get signatures. There are many legal ways to do this and here are a couple. The first is the hardest and one that takes the most dedication. Most of you probably won't choose this method. This is going out on the streets, or your college campus, and personally asking people for signatures. This method also requires you to know a lot about the case, so you can answer any questions the potential signer may have. The second is to ask local businesses in your area if you can post the petition on their information board. Most businesses have this, and it is mainly a place where people hang ad for cars and concerts and such. Some don't even require you to ask. You may only wanna hang one page of the petition at a time, since it is rather bulky to hang four pieces of paper on a bulletin board. You have to leave room for others to use the board too. If you show disrespect of the board, the owners will most likely take down the petition. It is very important to have the cover letter and at least one signature page. Otherwise, how are they supposed to know what they are signing?

4. Check back in a week and see how many people have signed the petition. Try to make sure that at the very least there is one signature per box. Name of city they are in would be nice, but not necessary. E-mail addresses and phone numbers are not required but can be included if the signer wants to do so, voluntarily. Only 1 signature from each person will be counted, and any after that will not be valid. If after checking back, the page is full, put up another. You can place petitions at multiple places if you would like, but not too many where you get confused as to how many you have and where they are. Please treat this petition with respect, don't hang them on telephone poles or any where else where they can get ruined, or cause clutter. The more respect we show for what's around us, the more accepting people will be, and the more willing they will be to sign.

5. What do you do when you have completed pages? Each petition contains 90 signatures. A deadline will be set in coming weeks, as to where and when you send the completed petitions. What the date will be, will be determined by the amount of petitions downloaded. When this is determined, it will be placed on the front page of this website. You have until approximately a week after the deadline is up to send in all completed and incomplete petitions. At this time, the number of signatures, will be tallied and they will be sent all together to the Seattle Police Deaprtment, and any other applicable organizations. Help us meet our goal of 100,000 signatures. Keep checking back for news updates and how the process is coming along.
